Community of Christ Church Council Minutes - March 11, 2008

Present: Pastor Rich Ferne, Les Disher, Jack Miller, Jim Stiles, Kevin Swagler, Jeff Baden, Joe Perkins, Tom Jennings, Gary Wise, Heather Dansack, Elaine Hetherwick, and Betty McSurley.

President Les Disher called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM.

Elaine Hetherwick gave Opening Devotions. Betty McSurley will give opening Devotions for April.

Jim Stiles made a motion to accept the Agenda. Karen Bogdan seconded. Motion carried.

Council Members read the Secretary's Report for February 2008. Elaine Hetherwick made a motion to accept the Secretary's Report. Jack Miller seconded. Motion carried.

FINANCE - Treasurer Joe Perkins briefed Council members on the Treasurer's Report ending February 2008. All bills are paid for February, 2008. Jim Stiles made a motion to accept the Treasurer's Report. Elaine Hetherwick seconded. Motion carried.

Liaison Report - Gary Wise -

A. The Organ Funding Proposal was presented to Church Council. We had a discussion on the pipe organ and its financing. Jim Stiles made a motion to present this discussion on the pipe organ and its financing to the Congregation with a date yet to be determined. Betty McSurley seconded. Motion carried.

B. Council was briefed on the Policy for Credit Cards. Heather Dansack made a motion to accept the Policy on Credit Cards for church use. Jeff Baden seconded. Motion carried.

C. Council was briefed on the Money Counters Policy. Jim Stiles made a motion to accept the Policy for Tellers with the addition of the Confidentiality Clause for Tellers. Jack Miller seconded. Motion carried.

D. Heather Dansack made a motion to authorize Joe Perkins to transfer funds from one account to another. Jack Miller seconded. Motion carried.

EDUCATION - Liaison - Karen Bogdan/Heather Dansack - Sunday School will go through June 8, 2008. No Sunday School for Easter or Dedication Day.

TASK FORCE ON FUND RAISERS - Liaison - Jack Miller - $2,465 was raised for the Building Fund from the Wine and Cheese Party held at Jeff and Tina Baden’s. It was a big success and a great time had by all.

CONGREGATIONAL LIFE - Liaison - Betty McSurley - Mystery Dinner will be on April 19, 2008.

WORSHIP/MUSIC - Liaison - Elaine Hetherwick - They are still working on the Dedication Service for the new building.

OUTREACH/GROWTH - Liaison - Tom Jennings

A. Tom Jennings made a motion to accept New Members. Kevin Swagler seconded. Motion carried.

B. 145 families plus have had their pictures taken for the Picture Directory.

VISION DESIGN - Liaison - Jeff Baden - We are progressing on time. We are late in some areas and ahead in other areas. We should still be able to hit the completion date.

PROPERTY - Liaison - Kevin Swagler - Nothing to report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

A. Elaine Hetherwick made a motion for the church to pay 50% of the cost of Cross Training at BGSU Friday night May 16 & all day May 17. Jim Stiles seconded. Motion carried.

B. Task Force on additional Staff - meeting on Tuesday, March 18, 7:00 PM.

NEW BUSINESS

A. Jack Miller is Liaison for the Task Force on Fundraisers.

B. A Special Thank You to Matt Davis (Finance Committee), Joe Perkins, Treasurer, and Dave Alleman (Building Committee), for the hard work.

C. Landscaping - We are forming a Landscape Committee for the new building. Jim Stiles is President of this committee. We need volunteers for this committee. Anyone who is interested should contact Jim Stiles.

Elaine Hetherwick made a motion to Adjourn, Jim Stiles seconded. Motion carried.

The meeting ended with the Lord's Prayer.
