The Logo Is Up Again! - As you enter the main door of the church, you may have noticed the metal art piece that has recently been placed there on the sidewall. Although it may be new to some of you, it used to hang outside the old entrance on that side of the building before we remodeled. A copy of this same logo also hangs outside on the Dutch Rd entrance. These were placed outside when we added our Sunday School rooms addition in 1989. This metal artwork is a representation of our church logo, designed by a now deceased charter member of the congregation, Dorothy Yeack. The logo symbolizes the purpose of Community of Christ - the people of God gathered under the welcoming arms of Jesus. At the time of construction that old entrance had to be reconfigured and the metal logo was put in storage. In the final wrap-up of our building project, it was decided that the logo should once again be relocated to the entrance of the church. I think that it makes a strong statement as one enters that all are welcome under Jesus’ caring arms and in this place!
Be Evangelists! - I am always happy to hear about people who bring others to worship and then say that they have “brought a friend” as we say at the end of our weekend services. This is really what evangelism is all about! I would continue to invite you to have those conversations at work, with your neighbors, with those whom you socialize with, and others. December is an especially important month for inviting new people as people are more receptive to an invitation because of Christmas. Think of whom you might have a conversation with about faith and invite them to worship this month on the weekends or on Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve services are 4:00 PM, 7:00 PM, and 11:00 PM.
